By Isaac Tan Yun Hann | Internship Period: 17 March 2025 – 29 August 2025
My biomedical internship at Biomed Global gave me the opportunity to experience the biomedical industry from different perspectives, while learning from inspiring mentors who guided me every step of the way. Over the course of several weeks, I rotated across multiple departments including Sales, Supply Chain, Regulatory Affairs, and Application Support. This holistic exposure showed me how science, business, and people connect to deliver meaningful healthcare solutions.
Sales: Learning to Listen First
My time with the Sales team helped me understand that biomedical sales is not about pushing products. It is about listening to customers, identifying their challenges, and offering solutions that meet real needs. Observing client meetings and product demonstrations taught me the importance of empathy, communication, and trust in building strong relationships.
Supply Chain: The Engine Behind the Scenes
In the Supply Chain department, I gained hands-on experience in procurement, inventory management, and cold chain logistics. I learned how accurate processes and teamwork ensure products are delivered safely and on time. This experience gave me a deeper appreciation for the operational side of the biomedical industry, where efficiency and reliability make all the difference.
Regulatory Affairs: The Guardians of Safety
Working with the Regulatory Affairs team opened my eyes to the critical role of compliance. From registering medical devices to reviewing safety data, I saw how regulations safeguard patient safety and support business continuity. I realized that regulatory work is not just paperwork, but a vital link between science, healthcare, and society.
Application Support: Where Science Meets Technology
With Application Support, I had the chance to see incredible tools in action such as Ella, Jess, and the BD Accuri C6 Flow Cytometer. Watching how automation reduces errors and speeds up research was inspiring. I also helped create learning materials for future interns, which made me proud to contribute something lasting.
Grateful for the People
What I will remember most is the culture at Biomed Global. Everyone I met was approachable, supportive, and willing to share their knowledge. Their encouragement gave me the confidence to step out of my comfort zone and grow both personally and professionally.
Looking Ahead
This biomedical internship at Biomed Global gave me more than technical skills. It gave me perspective. I learned how science creates impact when it connects with people, compliance, and real-world solutions.
As my internship ends, I am grateful and excited about what is to come. The skills I have gained, the people I have met, and the experiences I have had here have shaped me in ways I never expected. I am thrilled to continue my career with Biomed Global and to keep growing within this amazing industry.
